Different Fur Presents A Special Homecoming show for STARRED with Sister Ruby Band + special guests

Different Fur Studios will be celebrating Valentine’s Day this year at Swedish American Hall with Starred. The band has been making waves with their Prison to Prison EP which was co-produced by the studios own Patrick Brown and after garnering much attention from playing with Courtney Love to rave reviews, the band is ready to come back to San Francisco.

Liza Thorn and Matthew Koshak of Starred were introduced to each other at the Swedish American Hall in 2009, making this the perfect venue for their homecoming show. Alongside The Sister Ruby Band and other special guests, this will make for not only a memorable moment in Starred’s career, but also a romantic evening for Valentine’s Day whether you’ll be swaying hand in hand with your significant other or rolling love-scorned solo.

Starred

Comprised of Liza Thorn and Matthew Koshak, Starred originally met when Matthew had mixed Bridez. By two years later the two were inseparable, living and creating together in Los Angeles on their first EP, ‘Prison to Prison’ After a year spent figuring out how to compliment each other’s styles and personalities while using ones strengths to reinforce the other’s shortcomings, Starred relocated to Brooklyn. The duo is currently working on their first full length album as well as other solo endeavors, film scores, and production on friends and label mates recordings together in their new adopted home in New York.

The Sister Ruby Band

The Sister Ruby Band is the LA-based psych-rock project of Marlon Rabenreither, Carlos Laszlo, and Sam Thornton. Chasing diamond-cut melodies through a channel of swooning, manicsound, SRB evokes the dark undertow of the trio’s West Coast roots. Buzz Bands LA’s Kevin Bronson says “Sister Ruby’s woozy wall of sound isn’t too far from the reverb-soaked shimmer of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and, when the guitars are turned down, that trio’s excellent excursion into Americana, ‘Howl.’

Sunbeam Rd’s new album ‘Breathers’ out now!

Sunbeam Rd., a Bay Area four piece, craft a tense and expansive sound via psychedelic guitars, purposeful melodies, and restraint. Willing to fall apart completely exploring the margins of harmonic rock, their live shows can toe the edge of cacophony. At their best they reach into hook-laden, fuzz-saturated trance states.
The band juxtaposes the concerns of three distinct songwriters, all hailing from the same small town, and all recent art school graduates: Trevor Hacker and his layered guitar anthems, brother Clive Hacker’s minimal chamber rock, and Harrison Pollock’s angular feedback work-outs. Filling out the lineup is art school compadre, and baritone guitarist James Provenza. The band carves new spaces out of old friendships, striving to document strange new dialogues in sound.
